Since coming to office in 2009, Phyllis Thede has never lost sight of why she’s in public service: to give Iowa’s working families the incredible opportunities that were given to her. Phyllis has fused her extensive work in education and unions into reforming public policy, and she’s committed to seeing that work out until the very end.
- Longtime fighter for workers’ rights who has served as her union’s president, vice president, contract negotiator, and grievance chair
- Advocate for marginalized communities, served on the state’s Minority Action Committee and worked with QC United Organization, raising money for college scholarships
