Workers’ Rights Advocate

Julie Kushner

Julie Kushner has spent more than four decades organizing for workers’ rights, from her work on the Danbury Democratic Town Committee to her decades as an advocate for the United Auto Workers (UAW).

  • Successfully helped fight to unionize workers of many backgrounds, including taxi drivers, teaching staff at colleges, and casino dealers – creating new protections and benefits for these workers
  • Helped negotiate for a higher minimum wage, pay equity, and sexual harassment protections for secretaries and administrative support specialists
  • Advocates for paid family leave
