JD Ford

First-generation college graduate JD Ford was inspired to run for office by the civic values he learned from his parents and his grandparents – who also served in public office. He has worked to help others become effective leaders and was inspired to return to college to earn a master’s degree in education from Purdue University. If elected, he would be the first openly gay elected official in the Indiana General Assembly, a critical step in moving Indiana towards greater representation.

  • Early education advocate who wants to make education more accessible from childhood through higher education
  • Fighting for voting rights, from stopping voter registration “purges” to championing redistricting reform
  • Strong proponent of equality across gender, sexual orientation, and racial background
